Charity Football Match for Chestnut Tree House

Last night ECE and MHA Carpenter Box played a charity football match raising over £500 for Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice.

ECE and MHA Carpenter Box played their inaugural charity match in 2017, and after an 8-3 defeat a rematch was inevitable to give ECE a chance to redeem themselves. New recruits, a new kit and a strict training regime meant that ECE were going into the rematch full of confidence.

The 2019 match was played at Sussex FA Headquarters in Lancing. ECE got off to the perfect start with a goal straight from kick off. This was followed by a further two goals to give ECE a 3-0 lead at half time.

The second half saw lots of MHA Carpenter Box pressure on the ECE defence. Heroic defending and some good saves by ECE goalkeeper, Nick Smith was enough to secure the victory. MHA Carpenter Box scored a penalty in the last 5 minutes to make the final score 3-1.

The donation for Chestnut Tree House would not have been possible were it not for the generosity of the players, Sussex FA for the discounted pitch hire and match officials for refereeing the match free of charge. Our thanks are extended to all involved.
