Chestnut Tree House refurbishment starts on-site

ECE are excited to report that refurbishment work has started on-site at Chestnut Tree House.

Chestnut Tree House is a children’s hospice in Sussex, caring for 300 children and young adults. Their goal is to provide the best quality of life for young people and their families.

ECE are proud to have supported the Chestnut Tree for over 10 years and are pleased to be involved in this project that will update the existing facilities to meet the needs of those who use the hospice.

Discussions around the refurbishment of the hospice have been underway since early 2019 (pre-COVID). In light of the pandemic and funding landscape the plans have been scaled back, but some changes will be made during 2021 in order to meet the current and anticipated needs of the children, young adults and their families. ECE have taken care to ensure that the plans meet current infection control and CQC requirements.

Ceiling heights in the Teenage Wing and Hydrotherapy Pool area will be increased to accommodate improved mechanical hoisting for the young adults of the hospice. Further improvements include new wet and dry changing areas to allow more children and young people to use the pool.

Work is due to complete in the Spring of 2021.
