Doorways

Installation of giant, brightly-coloured and mirrored doorways on Worthing beach

Installed at 5am on a Saturday in June, and up for 4 weeks, the doorways installation takes a familiar architectural form and places it out of context to create a playful environment for the public to engage with.

After the award-winning success and worldwide coverage of last year’s project, The Mirrored Beach Hut, ECE Architecture has again teamed up with branding agency, Creative Forager to design something exciting that will engage and delight the local community.

It took a team of ECE employees 3 weeks to build and 2 days to erect the doorways, situated locally to ECE’s Sussex office between the Lido and the Pier on Worthing Beach.

ECE Doorways raise over £400 for the Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice

The Doorways are coming down on Sunday July 17th. In the time they’ve been up they have been featured in local, national press and international design blogs, as well as providing thousands of photo opportunities for the general public.

Following a sealed bid auction, all five doorways have now been sold raising over £400 for local charity The Chestnut Tree House children hospice.

ECE managing Director, Stuart Eatock said:

“The public response to the Doorways has been amazing – many people have asked about buying them over the last month so we thought it would be a lovely way to complete the circle to sell them to the highest bidder and raise some money for a very good cause.”
