ECE submit new proposals for Croydon College Site
ECE have submitted proposals to redevelop the existing Croydon College Site.
ECE’s submission on behalf of Stonegate Homes, proposes the demolition of the Croydon College Annex building and the construction of a 12-storey building with 93 bespoke apartments and two storeys of commercial enterprise space. This will also provide a new pedestrian link from College Green to Barclay Road.
The site is situated on Fairfield Gardens, part of the area outlined within the Fairfield Garden Masterplan produced in 2012. Excellent public transport links and proximity to Croydon town centre make the site an appropriate location for a residential development.
ECE worked closely with the planning officers to ensure a design response that contributes positively to the masterplan, maximising development potential and minimising impact on the existing Fairfield Halls.
The design response respects the existing materiality and architectural iconography, drawing on the many brutalist examples within Croydon.
