What brought you to ECE?
Before joining ECE Planning, I worked in local government for 15 years. I knew the time was right to move into private practice and expand my skill set further, and to see Planning from the other side. I knew ECE Planning to be a forward-thinking planning practice with a strong professional work ethic. I also knew Chris and Huw to be two planning geeks like myself!
What project are you most proud of?
Pelham Street (Hybrid Application) On many fronts this should have been a relatively straight forward development in a highly sustainable location in Brighton, delivering significant educational and housing benefits within the City. Yet, the development was severely impeded by unnecessary red-tape. By working through these with the team and presenting our case in a robust manner to the Council, we have succeeded in delivering a great development.
Would you say that you’re an early bird or a night owl?
An early bird, I always start the day with a cup of coffee and catch-up on the news.
Knowing what you do now, what advice would you give to your younger self while you were training to become a Planner?
Listen (appreciate the wealth of knowledge your colleagues offer). Believe (in your ability to think creatively to identify problems and provide a clear resolution) and Breathe (planning can get hectic!)
When are you at your most relaxed?
In my garden in the sunshine with my cat Arthur and dog Frank sat at my feet.
What is your favourite food?
I love food! If I had to choose a cuisine then it would be Thai…or maybe Indonesian…or possibly German. Actually, I’d love a Curry Wurst mit pommes!Share this
