ECE@10 Profiles – Rebecca Bignell

We caught up with Rebecca, our HR & Marketing Manager based at the Sussex studio to find out what her job involves and what she has achieved during her time at ECE. Rebecca joined ECE in 2014 as a PA and Marketing Coordinator, and has progressed into a vital member of the team.

What brought you to ECE?

I previously worked in a role I had no passion or interest in, which motivated me to make a change. I had never considered Architecture as the type of industry I could see myself involved with, but having worked at ECE for nearly eight years, I can confidently say that I wouldn’t change it for the world.

What have you been most proud of since starting at ECE?

I have achieved many things since starting ECE in 2014, both personally and professionally. I successfully completed my CIPD Level 5 qualification (whilst planning my wedding!) and have since progressed to HR Manager. I am also proud to have had my two children during my time at ECE and have successfully returned to work following maternity leave and continued to advance my career. It is hard work juggling mum life and a career, but it is a rewarding journey.

Early bird or night owl?

I’m a night owl, luckily my husband is an early bird, having two small children means they don’t always get the weekend memo!

Favourite food?

I love Mexican food! Hot and full of flavour (not forgetting the red wine!)

When are you at your most relaxed?

On the rare occasion I get some me time, I escape to hot pod yoga. This time allows for self-reflection, a good stretch and an hour without a child hanging off me!

Take us through your typical day at the office…

I love that my role is so varied, every day is different and brings new challenges. My job involves engaging with all the lovely ECE team members either in a HR capacity or chasing for project information so we can showcase all the amazing buildings they are designing!
