What inspired you to become an Architectural Technician?

An interior design college tutor inspired me and gave me the push to pursue my career, he saw potential in my drawing abilities and how meticulous I was. Growing up in the country as a child I was obsessed with making a base so it’s ironic that I am now part of the construction team managing building projects.

What inspires you?

It’s difficult to say as the industry is so diverse in what it offers, but I know what I love when I see it. I am currently obsessed with sharp crisp white buildings with green planted wall systems and incorporating large, glazed panels to really bring outdoors in and flood buildings with lots of natural light. I’m also very interested in sustainable construction and energy saving technologies. I am currently looking to incorporate these into my house.

What brought you to ECE?

The diversity in their sectors and broad portfolio of projects. Having worked for a local developer who worked on repetitive housing developments and portal framed buildings, I was eager to work for a company with a broad profile and didn’t specialise in one sector.

ECE have allowed me to broaden my knowledge and continue to be involved in many different projects over the years from residential, healthcare, commercial and private schemes.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud of how I have progressed since joining ECE. Over the years ECE have supported me whilst obtaining my various qualifications at College and University. I have since gone on to achieve my MCIAT accreditation and have recently been promoted to an Associate member of the company. Hard work and dedication really do pay off.

When are you most relaxed?

Depends on my state of mind! A nice walk in the country with my dog where I can completely switch off, or with a glass of wine socialising with family and friends.
