Hempstead Farm

ECE Architecture has gained planning permission for the redevelopment of Hempstead Farm in Uckfield, East Sussex.

Currently occupied by the Grade II* Listed Hempstead Farmhouse, this former horse sanctuary consists of several outbuildings and barns, lending themselves perfectly to the strategic conversion into four residential dwellings.

The design respects the heritage context of the site and protects the existing architectural character of each barn, whilst creating homes of the highest architectural quality.

The retrofit scheme will retain the original floor plans and focus on saving the existing fabric to uphold the barns’ character.

In addition, the project includes the removal of non-historically significant ancillary farm structures, unlocking the site for better-individualised amenity spaces and improving the setting for the Listed Hempstead Farmhouse and its walled garden.
