Picket Twenty is a new master-planned community of over 1200 homes near to Andover, including a new primary school, community hall, local centre and large urban park. ECE Architecture was commissioned by Persimmon Homes to prepare initial concept ideas for a new settlement on the edge of Andover which included the preparation of a Design Code to provide guidance for street and dwelling design.
The design is based around the hierarchy of streets within the development, with a tree-lined boulevard and cycle way meandering between the two principal access points, connecting with a series of secondary routes. Scale is increased along the boulevard and adjacent to a series of formal open spaces, reducing in height and density towards the development edges.
All homes within the development have strong relationships to the surrounding parkland setting, which wraps around the urban extension to create recreation opportunities.Share this
