After a complex planning process, ECE achieved approval for this new four court sports hall with a full height extreme climbing wall.
During the project development ECE met with Kent County Council planning officers in order to produce a design solution that responded to concerns regarding the building height and proximity to neighbouring properties. Following detailed consultations we were able to gain planning approval by carefully incorporating a curved zinc roof that assists in reducing the building mass and lowering the main hall into the ground by 1 metre.
The design includes a two storey rear element, containing a dance studio, fitness suit, changing rooms and equipment storage.
The buildings sustainability credentials include an efficient mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery and solar thermal collectors located in the sedum flat roof.
