The new sports facilities at St. Brendan’s College feature a new building as well as new pitches for a wide range of different sports.
The project aimed to not only support the College and its students but to create an asset for the whole community. We specified 3G surfaces for the pitches and included flood lighting to ensure the pitches can be used all year round and in all weather conditions.
The single-storey sports building has been designed to provide a range of facilities for the new pitches while acting as a marker at the entrance to the campus. The material palette of textured metal and a subtle light grey brick was chosen to complement the contemporary design.
The new sports facilities include:
- A 3G football/rugby pitch and four courts for basketball, netball and tennis
- Hard surfacing for car and coach parking as well as 150 secure cycle spaces
- A community room/classroom, kitchen, accessible WC and shower, offices and two changing rooms
In line with Bristol City Council’s policies to promote healthy lifestyles for children and adults, the St. Brendan’s College Sports Facilities have given the local community and the students the space they need to train, improve their fitness, and lead healthier lives.
