York House, Windsor

ECE have worked alongside Willmott Dixon to refurbish the existing Local Authority Council offices at York House in Windsor.

The existing building was almost entirely stripped back to the concrete and steel frame before receiving new elevational treatments, constructed with a quality brick finish, which gives the building a “civic presence” within the street scene opposite the Victoria Barracks; home of the Coldstream Guard.

The existing roof was replaced by an additional storey of office accommodation, which has been set-back from the main building line to reduce its impact on the street frontage.

The demolition and reconstruction of the entrance “link” building has redressed the street geometry and the remodelling of the public realm presents a more inviting and appropriate setting with greater visibility for visitors.
