Wiston wins at SECBE Awards 2023
Last night ECE Directors Stuart Eatock and Craig Boddington accepted the Constructing Excellence SECBE ‘Conservation & Regeneration’ Award for our work on the Wiston Winery Estate.
The award is a testament to the completed project, which has successfully revitalised a once underutilised area within the South Downs National Park. The Winery now offers a range of attractions for tourists, including a new shop, wine tours, and a restaurant that not only promotes their award-winning wine but also highlights local produce. Additionally, the project has enhanced accessibility to the South Downs National Park by improving public pathways and providing facilities for walkers to enjoy.
One of the remarkable aspects of the project is the sensitive restoration of two previously dilapidated historic barns, which have been transformed into an elegant restaurant with an external courtyard. These buildings were on the brink of decay but have been skilfully repurposed while retaining a visual connection to the site’s agricultural heritage.
Wiston Estate Winery has already received numerous prestigious accolades, including receiving a Sussex Heritage Trust Award and being shortlisted for the RIBA South East Regional Awards.
