Completion of Millmead House

Refurbishment of Guildford Borough Council’s headquarters office

Working alongside Guildford Borough Council, ECE has completed the refurbishment of Millmead House.

With Guildford Borough Council committed to remaining at its headquarters in central Guildford, this project was imperative to ensure their offices were fit for purpose.

The Millmead office refurbishment creates a contemporary and accessible council chamber with an elegant refined design.

“The working process on this complex refurbishment project worked very well and transformation of the public spaces is there for all to see.”

Says ECE Design Director, Nick Evans.

The new chamber has been designed with flexibly in mind, replacing the fixed furniture allows the space to be used for a wider range of activities. A modest extension adjacent to the civic suite has also been added allowing access for a new platform lift, increasing accessibility for users of the council chamber.

A computer controlled DALI lighting system was installed throughout to increase energy efficiency substantially and to give a high degree of control in the key areas such as the new Council Chamber and reception spaces.

The refurbishment updates the reception area with improvements for staff access and public circulation.
