ECE office visit Wiston Estate Winery

ECE arranged for the whole office to visit North Farm to see the progress on-site and a tour of the existing winery.

Project Architect, Gary Kelly, showed staff the agricultural barns which are being sensitively restored to provide hospitality spaces for the winery. Some of the original timber beams have been salvaged and will feature in the finished restoration.

Staff also had a tour of the current winery building to learn about how the award-winning English sparkling wine is made.

The works have provided a storage facility to store bottles of sparkling wine on-lees.

Plans were unanimously approved earlier this year for the remodelling and extension of the winery, which will become a local visitor attraction with a café, wine tour and direct sales facilities.

The extension and alterations to the existing winery buildings are set to provide additional production capacity for the Wiston Estate, taking their annual average from 125k bottles to 250k bottles of wine.

As outlined in the Wiston Whole Estate Plan, the vision for the site is:

“An exemplar rural employment and tourism site, set in a backdrop of vineyards that hosts and showcases skills, innovation, local products, culture and custom.”
