Newhaven Community Fire Station gets the go ahead

The new Community Fire Station at Meeching Road has been granted planning permission.

The facility is a joint project for East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, Sussex Police and Lewes District Council that will promote shared working and allows the delivery of a wider range of public services to the residents of Newhaven.

The three-storey building is formed from three interlocking volumes of brick, render and zinc cladding, representing the three primary functions – fire, police and community. The scheme includes three fire appliance bays, a drill yard and car parking for staff and visitors.

Information to discharge pre-start planning conditions has been submitted and construction is due to start on site later this year with Morgan Sindall as the main contractor.
