Planning Approval for Construction Trades Centre at Northbrook College West Durrington Campus

ECE Architecture’s design for the new Construction Trades Centre (CTC) at West Durrington Campus has been granted planning consent, marking a significant milestone in the Chichester College Group’s sustainable estate strategy for Worthing. The project, approved on June 19th, is crucial in relocating the curriculum from the Broadwater Campus.

The new CTC will replace a disused temporary building, transforming the campus entrance. Our design and material selection ensure seamless integration with the contemporary style of existing campus buildings.

Key features of the design include large specialist workshops for brickwork, carpentry, and joinery courses, alongside flexible classrooms to accommodate a variety of learning activities. The two-storey building, designed with a photovoltaic (PV) array on the flat roof, will address the entrance corner.

We are thrilled to receive planning consent for the Construction Trades Centre,” said Dan Weston, Associate at ECE. “This project not only enhances the learning environment for students but also aligns with our goal of creating sustainable, innovative spaces that benefit the entire community.”

With planning achieved, ECE Architecture is now progressing the delivery of the scheme with the contractor.
