The Bromley Arms, Fitzrovia

Bringing life back to the former Bromley Arms public house.

ECE Architecture were appointed by housing developer Nacropolis to revive the former Bromley Arms – a dilapidated public house on the edge of one of London’s beautiful squares in Fitzrovia.

The 5 storey building has been converted into 4 apartments, with a mix of two bedroom and duplex units, to attract different buyers to this small exclusive development.

The opportunity to create interesting uses from ‘lost space’ inspired the project – the ground floor duplex affords a basement cinema room and spa cocooned by the heavy walls of the redundant arches under the footpaths, while a rooftop extension provides a secret external space for the top floor duplex. All apartments are finished to the highest specification with light open plan living at their heart.

This was an incredible opportunity to release huge value from what at first appeared to be an uninspiring prospect.
