Planning Success for the Hyde Group

The Adur District Council Planning Committee have resolved to approve plans for the redevelopment on the former site of the Adur Civic Centre in Shoreham.

Working with ECE Planning and the Hyde Group, over 150 new homes will be built to meet the affordable housing needs in the local area. There will be 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments for both rental and shared ownership, located in two blocks that range from 3 to 9 storeys in height.

The ground floor of both buildings will provide a mixture of residential amenity and commercial spaces. Residents will have the use of private balconies, a shared roof terrace and a central courtyard garden.

The location is close to the town centre, the waterfront and within walking distance of the South Downs National Park as well as excellent and highly sustainable train and bus connections. The scheme will have a large number of electric charging points alongside neighbourhood car club spaces.

Cllr Neil Parkin, Leader of Adur District Council said:

“For many people in Adur, the idea of owning your own home is just a dream because of rising property prices. For those who have to stay in emergency accommodation, just knowing they have somewhere they can call home long-term is a huge relief.

“The new homes on the Civic Centre site will mean a better life for hundreds of local people in both of these situations, right in the heart of a vibrant community.”
