Wapping High School

The Wapping High School project converts the disused Polly Peck HQ building in central London into a new school and community facilities.

The Wapping High School project converts the disused Polly Peck HQ building in central London into a new school and community facilities.

A new floor has been added high above the streets below to provide a multipurpose hall and linked sky garden. The ground floor and basement have been opened up to provide new meeting spaces and a restaurant, all of which are open for much needed use by the local community. This new floor has become the heart of the school from which the city scape around can be enjoyed.

The school are delighted with the results and the project is an excellent boost for education in Tower Hamlets. The need for education is mounting in the borough and the places provided by this project have helped to meet this demand.

“Working with ECE was a pleasure from start to finish. At the outset they listened carefully to our brief, indulged our desires and responded with an exciting and well thought out design. ECE provided good support throughout the project which included liaising with the local council planning department our technical advisers and the builders. At all times we felt that they were as committed to the success of the project as we were. The project was completed on time and to budget to the great satisfaction of all concerned.”
