Tower Bridge Court

Retrofit of an existing five storey office located on the south bank of The River Thames in close proximity to iconic Tower Bridge in central London.

ECE were appointed by Willmott Dixon to deliver RIBA Stage 4-6 including discharge of existing planning conditions and site support.

The scheme involves demolition of existing facades, partial retention of the existing concrete frame, cutting in new service cores, atriums and floor infills, creation of a main entrance podium onto Tower Bridge Road plus new part one, part three storey rooftop extension with external terraces.

The new elements are steel frame construction with a portion of the third and fourth floor infill formed using salvaged steelwork sourced from a nearby site.

New facades include brickwork, projecting bay windows, metal rainscreen cladding and curtain-walling with feature fins and exposed industrial fixings designed to echo the industrial past of Tower Bridge.

The scheme is primarily office use with retail over a portion of basement, ground and first floor along with a large community space.

The basement area also features extensive secure bicycle parking and end-of-trip facilities. The internal configuration was redesigned by ECE to enhance the cyclist’s experience, improve flow and increase facilities whilst working within the constraints imposed by the existing structure.

The building is on target to achieve BREEAM ‘Outstanding’, WELL ‘Platinum’ and ActiveScore ‘Platinum’, seeking to be one of the most sustainable commercial developments in the UK.
